Maulana Samiul Haq murder: Civil court acquits prime suspect on sons’ affidavit

RAWALPINDI: Civil Judge, Rawalpindi, Zeb Shahzad Cheema declared Ahmed Shah innocent in the murder case of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq on Thursday.

Ahmed Shah was working as a personal secretary to Maulana Samiul Haq and was arrested by police on December 12, 2018.

The court acquitted Ahmed Shah on the basis of affidavit submitted by Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and other sons of late Maulana Samiul Haq in which they gave statement that he was not the killer of their father. They also said that he was like a son to their father.

The Airport Police Station submitted a report in the court and requested the court to discharge Ahmed Shah in Maulana Samiul Haq murder case. The police also presented the accused in the court. The court discharged him in Maulana Samiul Haq murder case on the basis of affidavit and police report.

Maulana Samiul Haq was murdered by unidentified suspects at his residence in Rawalpindi on November 2, 2018.

After murder of Maulana Samiul Haq, his personal secretary was disappeared mysteriously. Police raided every nook and corner to trace him but failed.

Police had presented an interim charge sheet of the case in court on December 5, 2018. In interim charge sheet, there was a statement of Maulana Samiul Haq’s sons including 12 others, the mobile phone data and investigation report of the police. But the report did not identify prime suspect of the murder.
