ITU’s second convocation today
LAHORE: The second convocation of Information Technology University (ITU), Punjab, will be held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Wednesday (today).
According to a press release, Punjab Governor/ITU Chancellor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar will chair the convocation. Debating contest: Ameer Uddin Medical College and Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Prof Muhammad Tayyab has called upon the younger generation to keep abreast of the national and international issues.
He said that awareness of the global affairs was the need of the hour for Pakistani youths as they should remain ready to safeguard the geographical boundaries of their beloved motherland. Prof Mohammad Tayyab expressed these views on Tuesday while addressing at a debating championship held at Ameer Uddin Medical College on the topic of “War Does Not Determine Who Is Right.”
Prof Mohammad Tayyab said every citizen should be ready to go side by side the government and Pak Army in the time of test.
Local bodies: Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Government Muhammad Basharat Raja says that the Punjab government is committed to empowering local bodies of the province by enacting a new powerful law in coming days. He was presiding over a meeting of chairmen of district councils at Civil Secretariat. He said the PPP was also determined to bring real change at grassroots level in accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. “This is possible only by transferring the powers to the local authorities that could serve the people more effectively and immediately.” He requested the audience to be active to resolve civic problems of the common man particularly by ensuring cleanliness in their respective areas. “the Punjab government is going to launch a state of the art program of cleanliness and tree plantation in almost 1,000 villages next month and I wish all local bodies’ heads come ahead to assist the government for its success as it will make our country clean and green”, he added.
LWMC: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) Managing Director Kahlid Nazir on Tuesday paid surprise visits to a number of localities to monitor cleanliness condition and ensure complete sanitation in the provincial capital. Accompanied by LWMC GM Operations Sohail Malik and other officials, the LWMC MD visited Allama Iqbal Road, DGBT, Sant Nagar, Salamatpura, Bogiwal, Singhpura, Gari Shahu, Co-op Store, GT Road and other areas in the City.
