16 men detained over minor girl’s rape and murder
Police on Friday detained 16 suspects for their alleged involvement in the rape and murder of a 10 year-old-girl in the Railway Colony of Bin Qasim Town.
Police officials said that the suspects were neighbours of the minor girl who went missing on Thursday morning and later her body was found after an hours-long search in an underground water tank of a residential building on Thursday night. Doctors at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre said that the victim was subjected to rape before being strangulated to death. Marks of torture were obvious all over her body.
According to SHO Arif Razzak, deoxyribonucleic acid samples of the detainees had been sent to a laboratory for testing. Earlier, the family of the deceased had staged a protest over the incident and suspected the involvement of people living in a same building and surroundings. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a report Karachi’s additional inspector general over the incident.
