Tree plantation drive launched in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: Deputy Commissioner Jehangir Azam Wazir inaugurated the spring tree plantation campaign by planting saplings on the premises of office of District Education Officer at the district headquarters complex Tajazai here on Tuesday.

The inaugural activity was arranged by district Boy Scouts Association under its plan to grow over 5000 seedlings in public sector schools across the district. District nazim Iqbal Hussain advocate, naib nazim Arab Khan, DEO Bakhtullah Shah and ADO sports Nisar Muhammad were also present.

The deputy commissioner said that enhancing area of forests was inevitable to control environmental problems and pollution. "To grow more trees is the need of day and the boy scouts as well as teachers should play an effective role in this regard," he maintained.

Meanwhile, the number of police station increased to seven from six in the district with upgrading of Serai Gambila police post to police station level. Regional Police Officer, Bannu, Abdullah Khan, inaugurated the new police station in the British-era old

building of police post on Tuesday. He said on the occasion that the new building of the police station would be built with the cost of Rs80 million.
