MANSEHRA: The security and polling staff left along with ballot boxes and other materials on Monday for respective destinations to be deployed at the polling stations set up in far-off areas of PK-30 constituency for the today’s by-election.
The officials from different public sector departments gathered at Elementary College ground at Ghazikot and left after collecting ballots, ballot boxes and other material.The district administration has established as many as 186 male and female polling stations across constituency where over 2000 security personnel, including 1200 army soldiers, would be deployed to ensure peaceful and impartial polling.
According to Election Commission of Pakistan, over 193,000 men and women voters registered in the constituency would cast their vote in a by-election in PK-30 constituency, which had fallen vacant following the disqualification of PML-N lawmaker Mian Ziaur Rehman by the apex court in a fake degree case last year.Though six contenders are in the run, tough competition is expected between PTI and its arch-rival PML-N.
