More trees stressed to meet climate change requirements
FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice-Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal Randhawa Friday stressed the need of planting more trees to meet climate change requirements.
Addressing a tree-plantation campaign organised by the Department of Estate Management, UAF, the VC said there were 3 trillion trees in the world whereas global population had touched the mark of 7 billion.
He said every person needed three tress to meet his or her oxygen needs. The VC said keeping in view the climate situation there was an urgent need to increase tree plantation. The VC said in Brazil there were around 1,500 plants per person, in Canada 9,000 trees per person, in China 102 plants per person, in India 28 plants per person whereas in Pakistan there were 5 plants per person.
He urged citizens to plant trees to increase plantation net in the country to fight climate changes, deforestation and environmental issues for development and prosperous Pakistan. He lauded the steps being taken on the part of government launching Green and Clean Pakistan.
