Geo Entertainment to launch another film ‘Laal Kabootar’
KARACHI: The Geo Entertainment is launching another film ‘Laal Kabootar’ on 22nd March across Pakistan. It is a joint presentation by the Geo Entertainment and the Nehr Ghar Films.
Laal Kabootar is directed by the award-winning Kamal Khan, shot by Mo Azmi and produced by the Harvard graduates Hania and Kamil Chima. Laal Kabootar features Ahmed Ali Akbar, Mansha Pasha and Ali Kazmi in lead roles. The lead actors, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha, have never before been caste in such roles.
Ahmed Ali plays the character of a taxi-driver looking for a way out of Karachi, while Mansha Pasha plays the role of Aliya Malik, a strong-headed girl. The director Kamal Khan spent almost two years working on the screenplay of Laal Kabootar, which is a Karachi-based crime drama. Laal Kabootar is a crime-thriller inspired from the streets of Karachi. Mansha while talking about the film said “the movie is very different and realistic and straight from the streets of Karachi”. She further said as “Karachi hosts all sorts of people and the movie is about all the different people coming together and interacting.” About her character, Mansha said, “my character Aliyah is a strong-headed and independent person. At the same time, she is going through struggles that have an emotional impact on her and overcoming them is the challenge.”
About his character, Adeel Ahmed said he hails from a humble background from Karachi and the circumstances bring him in contact with another character and is “forced to take certain decisions which drive the movie ahead.”
About producing the movie Hania and Kamil said that “It is a collaborative effort and all of us have put in equal efforts to make it a success”. The director, Kamal said “It is an inclusive effort, considering that Hania and Kamil did things for me, which I couldn’t and vice versa”. The screenwriter, Ali Abbas Naqvi, is a Karachi based writer with an intimate take on the urban life in Pakistan. The Laal Kabootar's first trailer will be launched on coming Monday at the local cinema and all the cast and the crew besides media and show biz stars will attend the event.
