Shabbir maintains lead in CAS Open
KARACHI: Pakistan No. 1 Shabbir Iqbal retained his top spot on the leader-board at the end of the second round of 38th CAS Open Golf Championship here at Airmen Golf Club on Friday.
Despite the fact that Shabbir was unable to repeat his opening day heroics, the former champion was ahead of the pack at the end of the second day.Shabbir, who carded a stunning eight-under par 64 in the opening round on Thursday, began the second round with a birdie on the first hole. He made two more birdies on holes 4 and 12. However bogeys on holes 2 and 10 and a double bogey on hole 13 did ruin his card a bit.
The second position is shared by Muhammad Alam and Muhammad Nazir, who finished the round today at four-under par. Muhammad Ashfaq and Muhammad Safdar are sharing the third place with three-under par 141.
Meanwhile, in Senior Professionals category, Muhammad Akram won the title with a gross score of 143 ahead of Imdad Hussain (145). The Junior Professionals title was won by Syed Bilal, who scored 150 while Bilal Khan was the runner-up.
