Injurious to health
It is surprising that items that pose serious threats to public health are sold openly in Pakistan. The same is the case of the open sale of gutka. Known for its highly addictive nature, gutka is one of the primary causes of mouth cancer. Although the government announces from time to time that it will take necessary steps to curb the trade of this harmful substance, no constructive step has been taken so far to tackle the situation in an efficient manner.
In order to educate people regarding the harmful effects of gutka, the healthcare authorities in collaboration with both federal and provincial governments should run awareness campaigns and inform people about the health problems that are likely to be caused by the excessive use of gutka. Also, the government should impose a complete ban on the trade of gutka.
