In recognition of his literary services, prominent researcher, critic and historian Dr Jamil Jalibi has been honoured with the “State of the Art Excellence” Award by the Sakinan-e-Shahr-e-Quaid Trust.
The ceremony was held at the Karachi Gymkhana on Wednesday but Dr Jalibi could not attend the event it due to his illness.
Later, two of the trustees, Khurshid A Hashmi and Muhammad Younus Shaikh, visited the residence of Dr Jalibi and presented him the award. The renowned author appreciated the efforts of the trust for promotion of the Urdu language.
Born on June 12, 1929, Muhammad Jamil Khan – who is better known as Dr Jamil Jalibi – is a noted linguist, critic, writer, and scholar of Urdu literature. Besides having served as vice chancellor of the University of Karachi, Dr Jalibi has authored 45 books over the course of his glittering career. He has also been a recipient of the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 1994 for his services to Urdu literature.
