For the first time in the history of Karachi, the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH) has introduced a post-Taraveeh OPD services in the holy month of Ramazan, a hospital official said on Tuesday.
Talking to media, LNH spokesman Anjum Rizvi said that the idea to start the Out-Patient Department (OPD) facility was to facilitate the patients in the best possible way. In the holy month of Ramazan, usually all OPD clinics are closed by Zohr prayers, and many patients who are either at work, or fasting, find it difficult to reach the hospital.
Some patients need medical advice from the consultant while they are fasting; therefore, they cannot go through blood tests, etc. Keeping all these things in mind, the LNH has decided to introduce night-time OPD services.
The timings are from 11pm to 1am, but the policy is that no patient, once reported to the clinic, will be sent back without meeting the consultant doctor. ‘Last night, our OPD clinic was open till 3:30 in the morning due to a large number of patients,” Anjum Rizvi added.
