Power Division says country producing surplus electricity
ISLAMABAD: The Power Division on Sunday claimed that the country currently generates 2,210 megawatts additional electricity than actual demand so the supply side has outpaced demand and overcome loadshedding in the country.
A spokesman for Power Division claimed that the demand of electricity stood at 16,790MW on May 6, 2018 at 20:30 hours, while total generation stood at 19,000MW, so there was no shortfall of electricity.
The outgoing PML-N government had claimed that they would overcome loadshedding before upcoming elections so this promise was fulfilled in terms of enhancing supply side. With the help of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Pakistan installed power projects and added around 12,000MW electricity into the national grid.
The Power Division stated that the loss-making feeders will continue to face load management in accordance with the devised policy of the government. However, the government will have to improve transmission and distribution system in order to provide smooth power which is now abundant in terms of supply.
