CJ notice of tax on mobile phone cards appreciated on social media
Islamabad: Mobile users appreciated the step of Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, who took notice of high levy being charged on mobile phone cards in the country.
As news flash on websites, mobile users started commenting on social networking websites including facebook and Twitter and appreciated the notice of Chief Justice. Social media users said that they were waiting for this notice.
While taking notice chief justice remarked that Rs40 was being cut on Rs100 card. He asked under what heads the levy was being charged. Adnan Naseer, a facebook user, appreciating the step of Chief Justice, said mobile customers are paying heavy tax but there was no one to take notice of these taxes. “We believe CJ will give us some relief in mobile taxes,” he added.
Ahmed Bilal said that this was the responsibility of the government to take notice of heavy taxes on Rs100 mobile card but in five years they did nothing. He appreciated the step of Chief Justice of Pakistan for taking notice of Rs40 taxes. Currently, the mobile users are paying 42 per cent tax, including 19.5 per cent FED, 12.5 per cent WHT and 10 per cent service/maintenance charges on every Rs100 card.
A mobile user, who recharges Rs100 card, is paying Rs35.62 in taxes. Further, the user is paying full amount even if the call drops after 10 seconds. The apex court would hear the case next week.
