ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that he had many secrets and before the revelation of these secrets, they should mend their ways.

Nawaz Sharif said, “It is Press Freedom Day today. World is progressing towards more freedom while in Pakistan restrictions are being imposed. Such restrictions were not even imposed during martial law and all know who is imposing these restrictions.”

He said that aliens wanted to bring Parliament of their choice but they had lost influence now.Talking to media persons outside the Accountability Court, he said, “It is unfair to gag the whole media under the pretext of silencing Nawaz Sharif. The founders of Pakistan might have never even thought that there would be the rule other than the Constitution, lawlessness would take over the law and there would be restrictions on the freedom of speech and civil liberties. Nowhere in the democratic countries around the world such things happen. And comparing this to other countries, it makes me feel ashamed.”

He said that the July 28, 2017 judgment created chaos in the country and Pakistan is witnessing economic downfall. Pakistan rupee is on downslide, our foreign exchange reserves are depleting and the national growth rate has been impeded.

Nawaz Sharif also talked about the new Islamabad International Airport and said that the Pakistani expatriates when return to the country, will feel happy to see a good airport. And people from all across the country will feel jubilated to see country’s developing infrastructure.

“We have set up a good airport here but I wish that foreign visitors should come to Pakistan. In 90s British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa, Swiss Air, Air France used to land here in Pakistan bringing foreign tourists. It is something to ponder over that why and how all that stopped. Now Pakistan is heading towards isolation and I reiterate to others that this country could not function like this,” he said.

About electricity loadshedding, Nawaz Sharif said that there is some problem regarding insurance or payment of money. “I have a meeting with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi here today and will discuss this issue with him.”

To a question about Rana Sanaullah’s remarks about women, Nawaz said that he had retracted his statement and such person should be appreciated. “PML-N is guardian of the eastern family values,” he said.

Inside accountability court Nawaz Sharif talking to the reporters said that the state had three pillars. At the moment, Saqib Nisar is controlling all the three pillars of the state. The legislature and executive are not functioning in this country. He once again said that he has been illegally ousted from the party presidency. Nawaz said that this is not 1977 but 2018. “Aliens (Khalaee Makhlooq) tried their best but we let the political parties act,” he said.

To a question whom he referred aliens, Nawaz said that all know about it. Maryam Nawaz while referring to the aliens said, ”We are struggling and our struggle is not depending on winning or losing.”

Talking about the 2014 sit-ins, Nawaz said, “I know many facts but those will come to the surface at an appropriate time. At the moment restrictions are being imposed on freedom of press just to silence us. They say many things that run on the media but when we try to reply, they impose restrictions. Sometime they mute words and sometime the whole speech.”

Talking about Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif said that he had issued a statement in his response. His statement was telecast by all TV channels and newspapers published his statement. Had he not issued a statement, why it would have been published, Nawaz questioned.
