Leisure Leagues set to hold school football
KARACHI: Leisure Leagues Pakistan (LLP) is planning to organise events for school-going children, starting from this month in Karachi.
“We are planning to revive school football with an aim to produce quality footballers once again,” said LLP Area Manager Riaz Ahmed, who was the chief guest at the opening ceremony of Inter Academy Under-16 Football Cup, underway here at Ibrahim Ali Bhai Government School ground in Orangi Town.
He said there was a time when footballers rising from school level made it to the national squad and even led the Green-shirts against international teams.
He mentioned Ali Nawaz, Qayyum Changezi, Ayub Dar, Mohammad Omar, Qadir Baksh and Ghulam Sarwar Sr in this respect. LLP is already organising different tournaments across the length and breadth of the country.According to organiser Zakir Khan, eight teams are participating in Inter Academy Under-16 Football Cup.
