KUJ-Burna elects its office-bearers
Hassan Abbas was elected president of the Karachi Union of Journalists-Burna in the election for the year 2018-20 held at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday.
Two hundred and seventy-seven journalists and photographers cast their votes in a peaceful manner from 9am to 5pm. The Green Panel, led by its presidential candidate Hassan Abbas, swept to victory by securing the highest number of votes (232).
Aijaz Ahmed and Rafiq Baloch were elected vice presidents, while Aajiz Jamali was elected general secretary. Lubna Jarrar and M Nasir Sharif were elected joint secretaries, while Seema Shafi was elected finance secretary. Eighteen others were elected as executive council members, while 18 more as the BDM.
Ikram Bukhari, chairman of the election committee and central chairman of the All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation, flanked by Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists General Secretary GM Jamali announced the results on the occasion.
