220 treatment centres sealed; quacks booked
LAHORE : To continue crackdown on fake treatment for the second week, the Punjab Healthcare Commission has sealed another 220 fake treatment centres of quacks during the last two days.
According to a press release issued here on Saturday, First Information Reports (FIRs) were also registered against quacks.
The Punjab Healthcare Commission teams had visited 713 treatment centres, and closed down 220 fake businesses being run by quacks.
Out of the total treatment centres visited in accordance with the census, 291 were found to be doing other businesses now.
The crackdown was carried out in different areas of 13 districts which included, Toba Tek Singh, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Nankana Sahab, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Mandi Bahauddin, Bhakkar, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The Punjab Healthcare Commission teams were accompanied by officials of the district administration and police.
It is pertinent to mention here that since the orders of the Supreme Court, the Punjab Healthcare Commission teams has sealed 1,150 businesses of quacks so far, and visited 3,142 centres in its crackdown carried out in different districts of the Punjab province.
