LANDIKOTAL: Scores of journalists staged a protest on Thursday to condemn the alleged torture and arrest of a Jamrud-based journalist by the Peshawar police.
Journalists led by Landikotal Press Club Chairman Ashrafuddin Pirzada marched in the Landikotal bazaar and chanted slogans against the Peshawar police.
They were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against police officer Khairullah who allegedly tortured journalist Shehzad Afridi at Karkhano checkpost.
Shehzad Afridi was reporting on the Karkhano Market checkpost when police stopped him from coverage and severely tortured him. The journalist fell unconscious after he was allegedly hit with butt of gun. He was then shifted to an unknown location.
