ZTBL beat Ghani Glass to graduate to Quaid-e-Azam Trophy
KARACHI: Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) were crowned champions when they defeated Ghani Glass by five wickets in the final of the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi, on Tuesday.
ZTBL chased the 132-run target after losing five wickets. Aqib Shah (47*) and Saad Nasim (31*) added 50 for the sixth wicket crucial unbeaten stand to take their team to a well-deserved victory.
The result enabled ZTBL to qualify for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-class to be held next season. Aqib hammered three fours from 90 balls, while Saad struck two fours in his unbeaten 27-ball feat.
Mohammad Umair got 4-60, for match figures of 8-180. ZTBL had scored 293 in their first innings. Ghani Glass posted 55 and 369.Nadeem Iqbal and Raweed Khan supervised the match. The winners were handed over Rs500,000 and the runners-up got Rs250,000.
Besides, Rs50,000 each was handed over to Aqib Shah (man of the final), Zeeshan Ashraf (Ghani Glass, best batsman, 512 runs), Mohammad Ali (ZTBL, best bowler, 35 wickets). Fast bowler Hamza Nadeem (ZTBL, 184 runs, 34 scalps) and Jalat Khan (Haideri Traders, 179 runs, 34 wickets) shared the best all-rounder award.
