UC secy held in journalist murder case
SIALKOT: The police Thursday arrested secretary M Jamil of Union Council (UC) Begowala in connection with the murder of local journalist Zeeshan Butt.
Police have also sealed the UC office. It is to be noted here that on March 27, 2018, journalist Zeeshan Butt was shot dead when he was interviewing UC Chairman Imran Aslam Cheema and his accomplices. Police had registered a case against Cheema and his five accomplices but no arrest has so far been made. According to SHO Begowala Imran Sultan, the reason behind the murder was the political rivalry. He said the accused persons would be arrested soon.
MAN SUCCUMBS TO WOUNDS: A man, who was shot and injured few days back, succumbed to wounds here on Thursday. Akmal alias Pappu, Sajjad, Malik Umer, Malik Imran alias Mani and two unidentified men shot and injured Saleem, Azeem, Sajida Bibi and a passerby Sher Muhammad over old enmity on Sunday. On Monday, Saleem died on the way to a hospital in Lahore. Police have registered another case of murder against the accused with no arrest as of yet.
