PTI nominees elected Abbottabad Nazim, Naib Nazim
ABBOTTABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-nominees Ali Khan Jadoon and Sardar Waqar Nabi were elected nazim and naib nazim, respectively, for Abbottabad district by securing 45 votes each in the house of 77.
Ali Khan Jadoon, who belongs to a known political family of Hazara division and is the youngest son of former federal minister Amanullah Khan Jadoon, managed to retain the seat despite strong opposition by the camp of former chief minister Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan.
The naib nazim is also from another famous political family of Abbottabad district and is the eldest son of former provincial minister Sardar Ghulam Nabi Khan (late). Both the nominees of PTI once lost in the first leg of elections three years ago when local government elections were clinched by Sardar Sher Bahadar with the support of PML-N members and some of members elected on reserve seats and three member of PTI won the election but were later de-seated through defection clause.
The PTI had the majority of 43 seats with support of JI and PPP members. DC Aurangzeb Haider administered oath to the newly elected nazim and naib nazim.Later, all the members of the PTI and their supporters celebrated the victory at the house of Amanullah Khan Jadoon on Mansehra Road, where PTI ministers Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Qalandar Khan Lodhi and MNA Dr Azhar Khan Jadoon were also present.
