KARACHI: Football Club Karachi were crowned champions when they defeated Iqra University 2-0 in the final of the NHU Futsal tournament here at the Karimabad Nazeer Hussain University Ground on Sunday.
In the hotly-contested battle, witnessed by a huge crowd, Nouman Dodo and Atif landed one goal apiece for the winners.
The founding president of the winning club Hamza Farooq said after the match that the talent should be properly groomed. “Talent is abundant in Pakistan but there is a need to properly groom the players at the grassroots level,” Hamza said.
He said that football should be developed at school and college levels. “If you are to develop any game it’s important to back it at the school level. Unfortunately sports development at school level is not given priority,” he said.
