5 people killed in AJK road accident
MIRPUR: At least five people, including a woman, were killed and seven injured when an over-loaded passenger jeep skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine at Janeyvaee village near District Headquarter Athmuqam of Neelam valley in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) on Friday morning, police said.
When contacted Athmuqam Police Control Room, in charge officer told this news agency that the passenger jeep (CH 65) was on its way from Muzaffarabad to Halmand town when it met the accident leaving five of its occupants dead on the spot besides seven injured in the accident.
The deceased were identified as Darvesh Khan, Shoukat Abbas, Haajra Bibi, Nisar Ahmed and Aamer son of Saien Muhammad.
The injured were rushed to the local DHQ hospital where three of them are stated to be in critical condition. According to the sources, further investigation is in progress.
