Woman, boy electrocuted

LAHORE : A 45-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy were electrocuted in a house in the Green Town area on Saturday.

The victims were identified as Farida, 45 and Abbas, 15. Abbas, a welder by profession, was welding a doorlock when earth wire mistakenly touched a high tension wire.

As a result, he suffered a severe electric shock and clung to the wire. The woman tried to rescue him and also clung to the high tension wire, and died. The bodies have been removed to morgue.

Woman dies: A woman was killed by a speeding bus at Mozang Chungi on Saturday.

Victim Fozia hailed from Kahna Kachha. She and her her relative were going a bike when a rashly-driven bus hit and killed her.

The bike driver also sustained injuries. Later, the locals and passersby blocked Ferozpur Road in protest and smashed the windowpanes of the bus.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old bike rider was killed by a speeding truck in the Manga Mandi area. Victim Babar was on his way on a bike when a rashly-driven truck hit and injured him. The accused truck driver escaped from the scene. The victim was removed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

suicide bid: A man attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the building of the district courts on Lower Mall on Saturday.

The man, identified as Abdul Ghaffar hailing from Muzafargarh, sustained injured, and was admitted to a local hospital where his condition was stated to be precarious.

Body: On the instructions of the chief minister, a three-member committee has been constituted to investigate the murder of a 12-year-old boy after rape in Pakpattan .

Additional IG Malik Abu Bakkar will be the convener of the committee. DIG Muhammad Waqas Nazir and an expert from the Punjab Forensic Science Lab will also be part of the committee. The committee will investigate the incident from all aspects and present its report to the chief minister in three days.

Earlier, CM Shahbaz Sharif had taken notice of the murder of Hassan, a seven grade student, and sought a report from the Punjab IG.
