Spring festival concludes in Miranshah
MIRANSHAH: The first ever spring festival concluded in here on Monday.The security forces and political administration had organised the five-day festival in Miranshah, the administrative headquarters of North Waziristan. Competitions of various sports disciplines were organised during the event.
Political Agent Kamran Afridi was the chief guest on the concluding day of the festival where tribal elders, tribespeople and children were present in a large number.Famous Pashto singers Bakhtiar Khattak, Jamshed, rabab player Shahid Malang and other local singers enthralled the audience with their performances and melodious voices.
Children of various schools also sang national songs and took part in a number of competitions during the festival.It was the first event of this kind in the past 15 years of militancy in this tribal region.
The tribespeople appreciated the holding of the event and called for holding such and other entertainment events in future in NWA. They said that such events would also present soft image of the tribal areas to the international community. Later, Kamran Afridi distributed cash and other awards among the children who had participated in various games organised during the festival.
