One killed, 5 injured in SWA clash
WANA: A man was killed and five others sustained injuries in a clash between two tribes over ownership of a mountain in South Waziristan Agency on Thursday.
It was learnt that there was a dispute between Karkeykhel and Dotani tribes over ownership of a mountain in Chenakho area.
The rival groups traded fire late in the day, the sources said, adding, one person was killed while five others sustained injuries in the clash. Identity of the slain and injured could not be established.
The injured were taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Wana in a critical condition.
The political administration had sent a jirga, comprising elders of the Wazir and Sulemankhel tribes to Chenakho area, to persuade the rival tribes to end firing, the sources said. However, the jirga failed to enforce a truce between the two tribes, they added.
