Eisenhower Fellowships praised for HR development

Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain on Thursday praised the Eisenhower Fellowships for rendering valuable services in human resource development and urged it to continue working in this respect in Pakistan.

"Such institutions play a commendable role in imparting education and the human resource development. I hope that the cooperation between Pakistan and Eisenhower Fellowships will continue in future," he told President of Eisenhower Fellowships George de Lama, who called on him at the Aiwan-i-Sadr here along with a delegation.

Chief Operating Officer of the Indus Hospital Karachi Abdul Bari Khan and other fellows of the Eisenhower Fellowships were also present on the occasion. The president said the fellows of the Eisenhower Fellowships Programme were performing invaluable services for the humanity.

He said the programme was playing a significant role in the training of the experts of various fields of life. The president said he was happy to see Pakistani scholars associated with the programme from the beginning and engaged serving the country and humanity. He said Pakistan had been hugely affected by terrorism in the region and thousands of Pakistani have made enormous sacrifices of both life and property in this war.

The president said the Pakistani diaspora was playing a vibrant role in the progress and development of the US and that those people were like a bridge between the two countries. On the occasion, George de Lama said he had a very pleasant and memorable visit to Pakistan. He said the Eisenhower Fellowships was a programme aimed at fostering international understanding and leadership through the exchange of information, ideas and perspectives among leaders throughout the world.
