Protests continue against new clearance system at Torkham
LANDIKOTAL: The activists of political parties, Customs clearing agents, traders and civil society members held a protest here on Wednesday against the newly introduced computerised system of clearing export items.
All Torkham Customs Clearing Agents Association Chairman Mirajuddin Shinwari and president Hayatullah Shinwari led the protest rally. They marched from the Hospital Chowk and gathered at Bacha Khan Chowk in Landikotal bazaar. The protesters were holding black flags and banners inscribed with slogans against the recently introduced web-based one custom (WeBCOM) system of clearance for import and export from and to Afghanistan via Torkham border. They also chanted slogans against the officials for allegedly violating the agreement signed with the Khugakhel tribe at Torkham.
