Woman, daughter electrocuted
LAHORE: A 35-year-old woman and her daughter were electrocuted while her son was injured in Shadbagh on Tuesday.
According to details, a victim was trying to pick up a piece of cloth that had fallen on a shed with an iron rod in the Chah Meeran area of Shadbagh. The victim touched high voltage wires. Other family members also ran for their help. They also received an electric shock. The victim received injuries. People on the hue and cry of the victims called rescue teams.
Police and rescue teams reached the spot on information. They admitted the victims to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced two victims as brought dead. The deceased were identified Masooma Bibi 35 and her daughter Fatima Noreen. Her son Mamoon was admitted to hospital under a critical condition.
A police team also reached the spot on information and removed the bodies to morgue for autopsy. They also collected forensic evidences and recorded statements of the eye-witnesses.
Firing: Two unidentified motorcyclists opened firing at the vehicle of former additional Inspector General of Police Chaudhry Manzoor in South Cantt police limits on Tuesday. Wife, daughter and driver of Manzoor, riding the vehicle, remained miraculously unhurt in the incident. The attackers had fired five bullets at the front of the vehicle.
The attack occurred near Ali Park which damaged the windscreen of the vehicle. After the firing, they fled from the scene. Fortunately, no bullet hit the victims inside the vehicle. A police team reached the spot on information, collected forensic evidences from crime scene and recorded statements of the eye-witnesses.
An FIR under attempt to murder charges was registered against four unidentified suspects on complaint of the wife of Manzoor. Police said that they were collecting CCTV fooatge of nearby cameras to search for the suspects. They were investigating the matter.
Workshop: Punjab Police arranged a one-day follow up workshop of 3rd retired IGPs conference to discuss police reforms and welfare aspects in a local hotel. The workshop was arranged by central police office’s welfare and finance branch in which retired IGPs Shoukat Jawed, Khawaja Khalid Farooq, Tehsin Shah, Altaf Gohar, Additional IG training and recruitment Punjab Tariq Masood Yaseen, Additional IG operations Amir Zulfiqar Khan, Additional IG logistics and procurement B.A Nasir and police officers and law enforcers of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtoon Khawah, Railway, Islamabad, Motorway, Azad Kashmir police , M Ghalib Bandesha (retired federal secretary) and other senior officers participated in different sessions of the workshop. In the workshop welfare issues, challenges and possible reforms were discussed.
