Tortured bodies of two girls found

LAHORE: A 24-year-old girl’s tortured body was found the canal in the limits of Kahna police on Sunday.

Passersby spotted the body floating in the canal and informed the police. They shifted the body to morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. Meanwhile, two persons lost their lives in different road accidents. A 28-year-old Raim Shah was killed by a speeding car in Yakki Gate. Tufail was killed by a rashly-driven car in Raiwind area.

Meanwhile, a mutilated body of a nine-year-old girl was recovered from the BRB canal in Batapur on Sunday. Police said that the identification of the body was not possible due to decomposition. Police suspected that the victim, yet to be identified, had been killed and her body was thrown into the BRB canal. The body was shifted to mortuary for autopsy to establish the cause of death.

INJURED: Two persons were shot at and wounded by a man in Gujarpura on Sunday, following an old enmity. The injured persons identified as Usman and Yaseen were admitted to a local hospital where their condition is said to be out of danger. Police also rounded up the accused, who was identified as Shookran, and recovered an illicit weapon from his possession. Valuables, cash taken away: Robbers deprived citizens of their valuables and vehicles worth millions of rupees here on Sunday.

Robbers took away valuables worth Rs800,000 from the house of Adil in Hunjarwal, valuables worth Rs 510,000 from the house of Sultan in Manga Mandi, valuables worth Rs 475,000 from the house of Rafiq in Factory Area, Rs 1.8m from Akram in Wahdat Colony, valuables worth Rs 600,000 from the family of Adil in Islampura, Rs 150,000 from Maham in Gujarpura and Rs 35,000 from Fazal Khan in Shafiqabad. Eight bikes were stolen in Shahdara Town, Badami Bagh, Muslim Town, Gulshan Ravi, Gulshan Iqbal, Green Town, Sattukatla and Ghalib Market.

POs arrested: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) claimed to have arrested 226 criminals, including 93 proclaimed offenders (POs) PHP teams also seized 331 drums of Iranian oil, 864 litres alcohol, 12 kg charas, 1,450 gram hashish, 415 gram opium, 53 pistols, one rifle, two Kalashnikovs, eight guns and 318 bullets from the possession of the arrested persons.

Meanwhile, PHP teams also reunited eight children; Sohail Khan, Areeba, Muhammad Ahmad, Bilal Ashraf, Mujeeb ur Rehman, Tahir, Saifullah and Saman Ahmad; with their parents. PHP rendered help to 2,917 travellers.
