TIMERGARA: The body of an eight-year-old boy was recovered from a cave in an orange garden at Kadh village in Lower Dir district here, locals and police said on Saturday.
They said Zaid Khan, 8, had gone missing from his house on December 25, 2017 and no clue had been found about him despite hectic efforts.
However, late on Friday an anonymous letter laying at the local Masjid pointed to the body of Zaid Khan, son of Rahimullah, at a nearby garden of orange.
A heavy contingent of police along with locals searched the garden and found the mutilated body inside a cave in the garden. Atmosphere of Lower Dir district remained in grip of extreme sorrow on second day and a large number of Dir residents under the banner of ‘Dir Shehri Ittihad’ (Dir citizen alliance) staged a protest in front of Timergara Press Club and chanted slogans against the gruesome murder of the child.
Speaking on the occasion, District Councillor Alamzeb advocate, Malik Rahatullah, social activist Ibrash Pasha, neighbourhood council Timergara nazim Fazal Hussain and others demanded earlier arrest of the killers.
Talking to reporters, District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Dir Nausher Khan said that police had arrested two suspects and investigation into the matter was underway.
District nazim Lower Dir Malik Muhammad Rasool Khan, deputy commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram and chairman Districrt Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) MPA Saeed Gul offered condolence with the aggrieved family and assured that no stone would be left unturned to arrest the killers.
