What media made of court observations!
ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar has said all incumbent leaders are respectable for them. He also lamented 'what media has made of court observations.' He said the media runs court observations out of context and then a response also comes.
The chief justice gave these observations while heading a two-judge bench that heard a case on local bodies on Friday. When a lawyer remarked the work that the apex court is doing has not only increased people’s trust in the court but also heightened their expectations, the chief justice observed that they are making efforts but the media presents court observations out of context, and then comes a reply. He said all leaders are respectable for them and the court’s previous observation only indicated a possibility.
According to INP, SABAH news agencies and a private TV channel, the chief justice said that the previous observation was based on a hypothetical situation, but the media runs stories out of the context, and a reply also comes from the other side to wrong stories.
The chief justice explained that they had said all leaders are respectable, and they (court) were only trying to understand a hypothetical situation that what would happen if a different person becomes the party head. But, the chief justice lamented, then the media made a situation out of that. What court can say, the court hears cases and tries to ensure justice, the chief justice added.
