83 receive papers for Senate polls
Eighty-three aspirants have received their nomination papers on the second day of receiving and filing nomination papers for 12 senate seats of Punjab which include seven general, two each for technocrats and women and one for non-Muslim.
As per election schedule, the last date for filing of nomination papers with the returning officer is February 8. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will publish list of the nominated candidates by February 9. The last date for scrutiny of nomination papers will be February 12 and last date for filling of appeals against acceptance or rejection of nominations will be by February 15. The last date for disposal of appeals by the tribunal is February 17 while the last date for publication of revised list of candidates is February 18. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 19 while polling will be held on March 3, 2018 in Provincial Assembly building, Lahore for Punjab, provincial assembly building, Karachi for Sindh, provincial assembly building Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar for KP and provincial assembly building, Quetta for Balochistan.
