Forensic report confirms Mardan’s Asma was sexually assaulted
MARDAN: The forensic report of the murder of four-year old Asma has confirmed that she was sexually assaulted before being killed, an official said on Friday.
Asma, a resident of Jandarpar locality in Gujjar Garhi in Mardan district, had gone missing 13 days ago. Later, her body was found in sugarcane fields. The director general of the Punjab Forensic Sciences Agency (PFSA) in Lahore said in the report that the minor girl was sexually assaulted before being killed.
Also, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Salahuddin Khan Mehsud visited Mardan on Friday. He held meeting with senior cops. The police chief directed the police to speed up the investigation of the case so that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The chief justice of Supreme Court had taken suo moto notice of Asma’s murder. Mardan District Nazim, Himayatullah Mayar, had claimed that Asma was sexually assaulted before being slain. The IGP Salahuddin Mehsud had also taken the same position, though the police officials in Mardan had said that they would wait for the forensic report.
