RIUJ warns media houses against non-payment of salaries, dismissal of employees
ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) while severely condemning the non-payment of salaries and dismissal of employees from various newspapers private channels has warned the media houses concerned of strict action against them.
RIUJ governing body meeting held on Thursday under the leadership of its President Mubarak Zeb Khan at the National Press Club. PFUJ President Afzal Butt also joined the meeting as a senior guest.
The meeting expressed serious concern over the delay in payment of salaries to employees in INP news agency, Channel 7 and other groups. The meeting also formed three-member committee led by RIUJ Finance Secretary Asghar Chaudhry to help solve problems of the workers.
The RIUJ meeting also discussed dismissal of photographer Sani Ghauri from daily ‘Jahane Pakistan’ and decided to write a warning letter to chief editor of daily Jahane Pakistan. The union leaders expressed that dismissal of workers from newspapers and channels will not be accepted and application will be filed in ITNE against these media houses.
