PPP lawmaker dies after cancer battle
A sitting member of the Sindh Assembly belonging to the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party died on Friday following a battle with cancer.
Sardar Ahmed Ali Khan Pitafi, who was 74 years old, was being treatment at a local hospital. Pitafi was elected from PS-7 Ghotki-III and was also serving on the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries as well as the Standing Committee on Board of Revenue, as per the Sindh Assembly website.
Former president and PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah all expressed their condolences on the MPA’s death, and praised his services for the party and for people of his constituency.
Pitfai was known in the provincial assembly for his independent and vocal stance on issues of public importance. Despite sitting on the treasury’s benches he had remained critical about the shortcomings and poor performance of the Sindh government in resolving such issues.
