Man falls to death from 4th floor

LAHORE:A manual labourer died after falling from the fourth floor of Emporium Mall, Johar Town Tuesday. The victim was identified as Usman. It was reported that Usman was doing electrical work at the fourth floor of the Mall when he fell down and sustained fatal head injury. He was rushed to hospital where he died. Body was shifted to morgue.

FOUND DEAD: A man was found hanging from his room ceiling in the North Cantt area Tuesday.The victim was identified as Muhammad Javed of Chungi Amar Sadhu, North Cantt. Police said it was yet to be established whether the man had committed suicide or he was murdered. Body was removed to morgue.

Drugs smuggling: Anti-Narcotics Force arrested a couple and a foreign national woman at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Tuesday and recovered heroin from their possession. The accused foreign national woman was trying to smuggle heroin abroad. Similarly, the couple identified as Shaukat Abbas and his wife Kalsoom Shaukat were arrested for smuggling heroin abroad through a private airline flight.

Car driver held: Defence A police arrested a car driver and his friend on charges of killing a cop at a picket on the New Year night. The arrested car owner was identified as Mustafa Ahmad and his friend Talha. Meanwhile, Namaz-e-Janaza for cop Mustansar was offered at Police Lines. Condition of another cop namely Qasim was also said to be precarious.

Meanwhile, Misri Shah police arrested three persons on charges of firing in the air. The arrested persons were identified as Hamza, Yousaf and Arshad.

SUICIDE: A 22-year old youth committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in the Johar Town area on Tuesday.The youth was identified as Abu Bakar of Johar Town. Police said the boy had swallowed poisonous pills over an unknown issue. He was rushed to hospital where he expired.

arms seized: Dolphin and Police Response Unit arrested 25 criminals from various parts of the city. Police also recovered seven pistols, two rifles and two stolen bikes from the possession of the arrested persons.

Three injured: Three people were injured in an explosion at the Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH) on Tuesday. Reportedly, the explosion occurred due to gas leakage while the three were checking the connection.

Punjab Institute of Mental Health Executive Director Dr Nasir Bhatti said the hospital staff with the help of fire brigade extinguished the fire immediately. The injured were shifted to the Jinnah Hospital by Rescue-1122. Their condition is stated to be stable.

robberies: Robbers deprived citizens of their valuables and vehicles worth millions of rupees here on Tuesday.

Reportedly, robbers looted valuables worth Rs1.1 million from the house of one Asif in North Cantt, valuables worth Rs3,20,000 from the house of one Junaid in Factory Area, valuables worth Rs2,10,000 from the house of one Murtaza in Islampura, Rs1,85,000 from one Imran in Shera Kot, Rs1,25,000 from one Mansoor in Race Course, Rs56,000 from one Abdul Ghafoor in Harbanspura, Rs53,000 from one Umar in Shahdara and Rs30,000 from one Usman in Iqbal Town. Whereas two cars and eight bikes were also lifted from different areas of the city.
