Work on new ITU building to start from 17th
LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will perform the groundbreaking ceremony of a new building of Information Technology University (ITU) on Dec 17.
According to a press release it will be a state of the art purpose-built main campus of Pakistan’s first research focused university being constructed at Lahore. The groundbreaking ceremony is being held on the first convocation of the Information Technology University in which the first batch of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students of the Undergraduate Bachelors programme would be awarded degrees.
The purpose built campus of ITU would be constructed on 182 acres on Burki Road near Lahore airport at an estimated cost of Rs 5 billion in a period of 12 to 18 months. The Phase-1 will consist of construction of academic block, library, hostels, sports complex and faculty apartments while facilities would cater the needs of 4,000 students and 500 faculty members. The university will also have 150 labs in phase-1.
synopses: A meeting of Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board was held on Friday which approved 18 PhD synopses and 16 evaluation reports.
The meeting, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Zaffar Mueen Nasir, also approved two miscellaneous cases and 21 extension cases. Matric forms: Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Friday revised schedule for submitting admission forms for Matriculation Annual Examination 2018.
According to the revised schedule candidates can now submit forms with single fee till Dec. 22, with double fee till Dec. 29 and with triple fee till Jan 5, 2018. Matriculation Annual Examination 2018 will commence from March 1, 2018.
BDS result: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) on Friday declared the result of first professional BDS annual examination 2017. Some 930 candidates from 14 affiliated dental colleges appeared in the examination out of which 609 passed.
Mahnoor Zahra of FMH College got 618/700 marks and secured first position. Saba Nasir of Faisalabad Medical University, Faisalabad got 598/700 marks and secured second while Zoha Nasir of de'Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore got 596/700 marks and secured third position. Supplementary exams will commence on January 30, 2018.
