Attacks on PML-N politicians’ premises perturb govt
ISLAMABAD: The government is perturbed with the situation arising from its failure in the operation against dharna protesters as protesters attacked the residences of Rana Sanaullah, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Bilal Yasin and further attacks on the residences of other parliamentarians of PML-N could not be ruled out.
Sources said in this situation, advice has been given to the government to release the Raja Zafarul Haq report and action suggested to be taken against those who were pointed out in the report so that the violent situation could be defused.
Sources said in the wake of the current situation, there were possibilities of taking resignation from Law Minister Zahid Hamid and even Zahid Hamid also voluntarily offered his resignation to the prime minister.
Sources opined that it was possible that solid steps in this regard would be taken within 48 hours. They said that in the meeting with the chair of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the onus of the violent protest in Punjab was put on the shoulders of the Punjab administration for not taking timely proper administrative measures to stop the violent protests.
Meanwhile, several questions are being raised with regard to government failures in taking or not taking steps with regard to the dharna issue. The mismanagement was seen again when a four-year-old notification was issued for the deployment of army. All these things suggest that in the coming days some resignations from cabinet can be expected.
The government's reputation was hurt and the demand for early elections may get support. Though there was no possibility of military intervention, the balance of power in the last 24 hours has been shifted to Rawalpindi.
