UMT’s annual convocation confers degrees upon 1,466 students

LAHORE: University of Management and Technology (UMT) Lahore hold its 14th annual convocation at its Johar Town campus. As many as 1466 degrees were conferred upon the students in a number of disciplines. According to the press release, total 1,085 undergraduate and 381 postgraduate and 6 PhD degrees were given away among the students. Moreover, 38 gold medals, 14 Patron’s gold medals, 09 Rector’s silver medals, 09 Rector’s Academic Excellence Awards, 07 Rector’s awards for entrepreneurship and innovation, 08 gold medals in extracurricular activities, 08 certificates of excellence, 01 award in applied research, 05 awards for best research publication and 07 cash prizes of worth one million rupees were given away on the occasion of the annual convocation.
This year, the university management invited Ms. Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau, the US Consul General Lahore as the Guest of Honor to the convocation.
In his introductory remarks, Rector UMT Dr. Muhammad Aslam gave an overview of the whole year’s activities that took place at the varsity. He congratulated the graduating students, parents and teachers for supporting one another to achieving one of the most important milestones of their life. Dr Aslam added that UMT has a highly qualified faculty and its quality of education is strengthened by accreditations from PEC, NBEAC, NCEAC, PATCP, NACTE and SAQS. The Rector concluded by advising the graduates to earn respect not on the strength of their degrees but on the basis of their hard work, excellent professional performance and tolerance towards their fellow workers.
Expressing her views, Ms. Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau, the US Consul General said that she was delighted to visit UMT and she felt that the future of Pakistan is getting prepared at UMT.***
