LAHORE: Bhalwal Industrial Estate will get a status of special economic zone soon, an official said during his visit to the estate.
Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) chief executive officer Shairyar Salim said that the federal government is also extending similar status to another two estates situated in Rahim Yar Khan and Vehari districts.
The Punjab government has provided an integrated infrastructure in these industrial estates to attract foreign direct investment and to reduce the environmental and social impacts of the industrial uses.
Bhalwal is a Tehsil of Sargodha district in the centre of the province and lies in an agricultural area, close to the M2 motorway, to which it is being connected by three interchanges. Salam interchange is very near to the city. Bhalwal citrus fruits, including oranges are very famous in the country and abroad, he added.
