Police on Friday recovered the dead bodies of a man and a woman believed to have been killed over 'honour' from a house in North Nazimabad’s Umar Farooq Colony.

The man was identified as 20-year-old Sajid and the woman as 22-year-old Kulsoom Khatoon. The two were found dead at the woman’s house. According to SP Gulberg, Bashir Ahmed Barohi, the woman’s father, Gulfaraz, and brother are suspected of the murders since her family had fled their house following the killing.

SP Barohi said the victims were friends and the relatives of the girl slaughtered them when Sajid arrived at her house during the early hours of Friday morning.

Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police SHO Abdul Ghafar Sindhu said nearby residents informed the police that they entered the house when they saw its main gate open.

Police reached the house and shifted the bodies to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy.

Sindhu claimed that Sajid barged into Kulsoom’s house at night, and initial investigation suggests that her father and brother killed them both. A butcher’s axe with marks of blood on it was also recovered from the house, the SHO added.

Area residents told the police that Sajid ran a shop in the locality and that him and Kulsoom were planning run away from the house to contract marriage after their families disapproved of their relationship.

SHO Sindhu said both the deceased belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that the police was making efforts to locate the girl’s family.

While the body of the man was handed over to his family, the woman’s was placed in a mortuary. No case was, however, registered till the filing of this report.
