Honour killing claims life of teenage girl

SUKKUR: A man shot his niece and her alleged paramour on Monday in the limits of Shahdadpur's village Sawan Talpur. As per the reports, accused Muhabat Talpur shot his 17-year-old niece Samina and her alleged Paramour Ilyas Talpur. In this incident, Samina lost her life, while Ilyas was critically injured.  Later, the accused surrendered at the local police station, where he confessed his crime and stated that he killed his niece due to her illicit relationship with Ilyas Talpur.

Nawaz must resign: PPP MNA

SUKKUR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nafisa Shah Jillani on Monday said that Nawaz Sharif should resign. She said this while talking to media after inquiring the health of a senior journalist Mukhtiar Phulpoto at the Khairpur Civil Hospital. She said that Nawaz Sharif made foul promises with the nation.  The MNA said PPP Chairman Bilawal Zardari was determined to hold divisional-level meetings with party workers and in this regard he had planned to visit each and every divisional headquarter to reorganise the party.

 

Youth shot dead in Chakwal

CHAKWAL: A youth was shot dead in Thanil Fatohi village on Monday. Umar Ali Mirza was sitting in a hotel when accused Mazhar Hussain, his son Imran and Nawaz came and allegedly shot him dead. Police have registered a case.

 

 Three sisters die after eating poisonous food

SIALKOT: Three sisters died after eating poisonous chaat in the Boori Mohallah in Naikapura police limits on Monday. Ayat (6), Amina (5) and Zahra (4), daughters of Nawaz Khan, fell unconscious after eating chaat from the shop of M Boota and Waris Ali. They were shifted to a local hospital where they died. The police have registered a case.

 

Two outlaws killed

JARANWALA:Two alleged outlaws were killed in a police ‘encounter’ in Chak 71/GB in the jurisdiction of Sadar police on Monday. The police were on routine patrolling when they saw two suspects on a motorcycle. When the police tried to stop them, they allegedly opened fire at the police, which was retaliated. As a result, both the bikers were killed on the spot.

 

Labourer dies in accident

TOBA TEK SINGH: A worker died in an accident near Pirmahal in Darkana area. According to police, victim Muhammad Hussain was busy working on the Peshawar-Lahore-Karachi motorwa when a dumper hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.

 

Guard killed in bank heist

GUJRANWALA: Two dacoits killed a security guard during a bank robbery at Qila Didar Singh on Monday. The dacoits broke into a bank branch and made off with Rs 1 million. In the meantime, security guard Muhammad Asghar offered resistance to them. It infuriated the dacoits and they shot him dead.

LAHORE: Different religious organisations on appeal of Pakistan Ulema Council have announced observing Jumatul Wida as “Youm-e-Tahafuz Harmain Al-Sharifain Al-Aqsa” all over the country.Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi chaired a meeting here on Monday.The meeting decided unanimously to observe Jumatul Wida, 23rd of June as Youm-e-Tahafuz Harmain Al-Sharifain Al-Aqsa stating that Harmain Al-Sharifain and Masjid-e-Aqsa are centres of Muslim unity and strength. They pledged that Youm-e-Tahafuz Harmain Al-Sharifain Al- Aqsa is being observed to express solidarity and unity of Muslim Ummah for annihilation of extremism and sectarian violence from the Muslim world.

Faithful to observe longest fast on June 22

Islamabad: Faithful will observe longest fast on Thursday which would be the longest day of the year. According to the experts, on June 22, duration of daytime will be about 17 hours while the duration of night is going to be around 10 hours. The duration of day starts to decrease gradually after July 1 and the period of day and night on 22nd December gets equal. In this way, the night of December 22 is considered as the longest night of the year and the shortest day. It is to mention here that this happens every year, all over the world including Pakistan.

Three Eid holidays in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced three holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr and in this regarding a notification was issued on Monday. According to the notification, the provincial government has announced three holidays from Monday (June 26 to June 28) to Wednesday.
