Qatari prince owns letter in reply to Panama JIT
ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister of Qatar Prince Hamad Bin Jassim has informed the JIT probing the Panama Papers that he stands by his statement given in the letter last year that was produced in the Supreme Court regarding his family business links with the Sharif family.
This he stated in his reply to the JIT on May 27, to a query made by the JIT through Pakistan’s mission in Doha. Highly-placed diplomatic sources told The News that the JIT’s letter was delivered to him on May 24 and he responded three days after that.
The prince, who also served as foreign minister of his country for several years and is viewed as one of the richest persons of the world, reminded the JIT that he owns the content that were part of his previous letter.
The sources said that the prince hasn’t received any communication from the Supreme Court or the JIT asking him to appear in person. He has business spread across the world and he is an extremely busy person. The sources said that he hasn’t made up his mind for coming to Pakistan or otherwise for recording his statement.
He is reportedly of the view that the letter that was produced in the apex court of Pakistan contains each and every detail that could be required in the matter.
