CDA directorates trying to include 700 fake claims of Built up Properties

Mayor vows not to succumb to any political pressure while announcing BuP award

A major land scam is brewing in the federal capital as land and estate directorates of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) are in process of giving final shape to around 700 fake claims of Built up Properties (BuP) for inclusion in award of land allocated for a medical teaching university to be raised with assistance of the Bahrain Government.

As per Google image available a year back, only 137 houses existed on 237 kanals of land in area of Dhoke Azam and adjoining villages  of Chak Shahzad located in National Assembly’s constituency NA-49. However, some officials of CDA who are on deputation, for the sake of their interests and under some political pressure were also considering 700 fake claims of BuP in addition to 137 genuine cases.

The CDA sources said the concerned officials of CDA were receiving bribe from fake affected persons for allotment of 700 alternate plots, the total cost of which in the open market on allotment would be over Rs5 billion. “Presently, the land and estate directorates are considering 826 applications which also include around 700 fake claims,” the sources said.

The sources further said that in a matter of few days, the land mafia supported by some political personalities had started raising houses for the purpose of including their names in the list of BuP award.

It is understood that the fake claims if materialised would badly effect image of the government before the 2018 general elections and would also hamper in execution of the mega project to be completed with assistance of a Muslim country.

The King Hamadan University would be affiliated with the Royal College of Nursing Ireland and would produce 500 highly qualified 500 graduates that would greatly assist Pakistan’s healthcare and medical needs. The Bahrain Government has also agreed to provide Rs 3 billion for the mega project near National Institute of Health (NIH).

The Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz when contacted by ‘The News’ said he would not tolerate any political pressure while announcing the BuP award.

“There will be no acceptance of any fake claims and the BuP award will be announced on basis of the Google image,” Sheikh Anser maintained.

The CDA chairman said that there were not much BuPs on the land allocated for the medical university. He said the CDA had already acquired the said land as per 1983 award while the affected people have also been compensated.

“Rest assure, no fake claims will be accepted while announcing the BuP award and the Google image will be kept in view,” he said.
