Resolution seeks service structure for electronic media workers
LAHORE: An out-of-turn resolution, moved by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, demanded the federal government and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to set up service structure for the electronic media workers on the pattern of Newspapers Employees Act, which regulates and governs the print media.
The resolution voiced serious concern over the termination of employees and delay in their salaries by different media groups. It termed it injustice with the families of journalists and sheer disrespect to the profession of journalism.
The resolution stated that through such acts, neither journalism could flourish nor a justice-based society could be established. It demanded immediate restoration of terminated employees and payment of their pending salaries.
