The Sindh Rangers on Thursday claimed to have arrested eight suspects, including two activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – London’s (MQM-L) armed wing, during raids in various parts of the city.
A handout issued informed that two MQM-L activists – identified as Muhammad Arif Arab and Noor Muhammad alias Noora Dhobi – were arrested from Ittehad Town and Preedy Street. The suspects were said to be involved in target killings, hide snatching, extortion collection, aerial firing and forceful closure of markets.
One of the suspects, Arif Arab, was accused of killing Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST) workers, along with a companion, in 2010.
Two Lyari gangsters were arrested in Nazimabad and Chakiwara.
The suspects were identified as Ayaz and Someer alias Pappu. In Surjani Town, a suspect identified as Ahsanullah alias Imran alias Baba was held.
Rangers also arrested three Afghan nationals after a raid in Nazimabad. The suspects were accused of crossing the Pakistani border illegally.
