A female staffer of a private TV channel’s production house was found dead inside the washroom of the office, situated in Clifton Block-IV, on Thursday.

Thirty-five-year-old Lubna was found dead in the washroom by the sweeper. He reportedly broke down the lock after she did not open the door on several knocks.

Boat Basin police officials said they were informed of the murder by the production house’s management.

She was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi where the doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. Her body was handed over to the family for burial after a post-mortem examination.

Clifton SP Dr Assad Malhi told The News that the victim handled the production house’s financial matters.

He added that her colleagues in their statement to police said she was dead when the sweeper came upon her.

The SP said the police would only be able to confirm the cause of her death after the autopsy report is issued.

JPMC official murdered

Zahid Parveen, vice principal of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre's School of Paramedics was stabbed to death inside her apartment in DHA on Wednesday night.  Speaking to The News, SP Clifton Dr Assad Malhi said her servant in his initial statement said he was on his way out of the apartment to get some groceries when a man and a woman holding a pistol and a knife forcibly entered the house and stabbed Zahida to death.

“The servant stated that they beat him up brutally when he tried to call for help during the attack,” Dr Malhi added. “Zahida received wounds in her head and neck which proved fatal,” the Clifton SP stated.

“The servant was too shaken and could not respond to the police’ queries,” the SP said, adding, the police decided to question him again once he gets normal.”

SSP South Saqib Ismail Memon suspected that the attack was carried out over some personal enmity since nothing was missing from the house. Her husband, a retired banker, was not present in the house at the time of the attack, the SSP stated.

JPMC Executive Director Dr Seemin Jamali told The News that Zahida was a BPS-17 employee and was deployed in the hospital’s Department of Pathology. She maintained that Zahida was given the post of School of Paramedics’ VP a few months ago. Dr Seemin said Zahida had never spoken of her enmity with anyone at the hospital.
