Victim’s body packed in gunny bag found dumped in playground;
man wanted for wife, mother-in-law’s murder arrested after 11 days
With her hands handcuffed and body bearing intense torture marks, an unidentified woman, who officials said appeared to be around 24 years of age, was found dead on Tuesday in a playground in Sector 5-D, New Karachi.
Bilal Colony SHO Mohsin Zaidi said the woman’s body was found packed in a gunny bag dumped in the playground. A postmortem at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital confirmed that the victim was brutally tortured before being strangled to death. However, the woman’s identity could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
On April 11, a 20-day-old body of a teenage girl was found dumped in an open plot in the Korangi Crossing area.
According to Ibrahim Haideri police, the officials were informed about the body lying in the plot adjacent to Institute of Business Management (IoBM) through police helpline.
He added that it would be difficult to ascertain the identity because the body was partially decomposed, but said the victim was around 18 years old.
He said that the police had not found any clues from the spot which could have helped in identifying the victim.
On April 3, a seven-day-old body of a woman was found near Maymar Morr, Super Highway.
A medico-legal officer at the Civil Hospital said the woman, who remained unidentified but was said to be around 25 years of age, was brutally tortured before being stabbed to death.
Arrest
After 11 days on the run, a man accused of killing his wife and mother-in-law in Surjani Town’s Kaneez Fatima Society was arrested by the Surjani Town police.
Officials claimed the police arrested Malik Nasir accused of shooting his wife and his mother-in-law dead when they were en route the Malir court to attend proceedings of the couple’s Khula case, on April 13. The police maintained that they had recovered the murder weapon.
