Court refers Pemra’s appeal on DTH to CJP to form three-member bench
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC), through its order on Wednesday, referred appeal of Pakistan Electronic and Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to chief justice of Supreme Court for forming three-member bench to conduct hearing into the participation of broadcasters in the auction of Direct to Home Technology (DTH).
On Tuesday, two-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmad and Justice Syed Sajjad Ali Shah, held hearing into the appeal. Asma Jehangir, while representing Independent Media Corporation, pointed out that three-member bench of the high court had issued its verdict while this was the two-member bench. On it the court issued direction to refer this case to chief justice of Supreme Court in order to form three-member bench to hear this appeal.
